Venice Marco Polo Airport is an airport located on the Italian mainland 4.3 nautical miles (8.0 kilometres; 4.9 miles) north of Venice, Italy, in Tessera, a Frazione of the Comune of Venice nearest to Mestre. The airport was named after the Venetian traveller Marco Polo, whose book introduced Central Asia and China to Europeans.
